New York City Passenger Ship Terminal - Pier Restoration and Repair - Ended December 2005
Trevcon's extensive marine construction experience and knowledge of the underwater environment has been put to use in the challenging substructure repairs to the New York City Passenger Ship Terminal. Varying amounts of damage caused by marine borers required the reinforcing, protecting or replacing of the substructure pilings. Trevcon's vast harbor experience allowed us to properly evaluate the condition of the pilings and choose the appropriate restoration type for each piling and damaged section of the pier.

NYC Economic Development Corp.— West Harlem Waterfront/Riverwalk
This $11,000,000 project involves both marine work as well as roadway and utility reconstruction along the Hudson River. The marine work consists of the installation of various pile-supported pier structures, floating structures, gangways and ramps, bulkhead reconstruction/rehabilitation and other shoreline modifications including gabion and rip rap slope features, bulkhead reconstruction and fish mitigation features. Various pier structures include an excursion pier, recreation and fishing pier, and the “Riverwalk” Pier. Floating structures include the ferry float and kayak float. Work c ommenced in March, 2006 and was completed in March, 2007.
 NJ DEP/Wreck Pond
The project consists of installing an extension to an existing 84” diameter storm outfall between Spring Lake and Sea Girt, NJ to prevent future clogging of the pipe and allow for proper drainage. Trevcon will be installing 300 linear feet of 84” diameter concrete pipe on a timber pile foundation. The pipe is going through the surf and will require the building of a 400’ long temporary trestle to support our equipment during construction. Major items of work are: a 325’ X 50’ steel sheeted cofferdam, 450 timber piles, 7,000 bolts (installed underwater) 35,000 board feet of timber and a navigation structure.

Barnegat Lighthouse
The change in current patterns have caused an erosion problem at Barnegat Inlet on Long Beach Island that has caused failures to the existing bulkhead just west of the Historic Barnegat Lighthouse. Trevcon was contracted by the NJDEP, Dept. of Coastal Engineering to install a steel sheetpile bulkhead outboard of the existing failed bulkhead using 60’ long sheets tied back to another sheetpile wall 50’ inshore. Six years ago Trevcon was contracted by the NJDEP to shore up the foundation of the lighthouse using 30,000 tons of jetty stone 12-15 tons in weight.
Brooklyn/Pier 12 – New US Port for Queen Mary II
Trevcon has been working continuously since September, 2001 upgrading the substructure at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal including structural enhancements to allow for the docking of the Queen Mary II. When Mayor Bloomberg partnered with Cunard Cruise Lines to upgrade and increase the cruise ship industry in New York City, Trevcon was called upon to upgrade the substructure and install large mooring structures at Pier 12 in Brooklyn. Our contract required the repair of existing timber piles, installation of 85 new 24” diameter X 120’ long steel piles, 1,500 cubic yards of structural concrete, interior water and sewer system, foundations for smaller buildings, fenders and bulkheads. The schedule was extremely tight in order to make way for QM II.

Bayonne Local Redevelopment — Berth N-1 Extension
This project consists of driving 191 18 ” diameter steel pipe piles ranging from 85 to 110 ft long. A new concrete platform extension to the existing pier will be constructed measuring 300 feet x 50 feet. The job also entails driving a new 386’ steel bulkhead and installation of three new bollards. Berth N-1 is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2007.
